Big companies are testing RFID and they are pretty open about it too. This time IBM is using this technology at its Demand conference in Las Vegas and mind you this is the first time that the company has implemented RFID at the conference. In case you are one who is afraid of RFID you are free to opt for a name tag without the chip. The number of people opting out for RFID was a minuscule two percent out of more than six thousand people who attended it.

The chip only has the name, title and company of the person wearing it and therefore they don't need to fear about their personal information getting accessed. As soon as the person walks in the conference room the RFID receiver logs the data of the chip. Only the session and meal attendance will be tracked with the aid of the technology. IBM is still not sure as to how it will use the data but it would surely help them to plan future conferences in a better manner and even control the costs. The company still doesn't know how far it would take the implementation of this technology but one thing is for sure it has helped it in creating confidence among the attendees with regards to the technology and even wiped out some of the negative thoughts they had with respect to it.
