Posted in Live (December 14, 2007 at 2:16 am)

I think the time is not far away when almost everyone will be possessing an RFID phone and I believe even Samsung would agree with my thoughts. Realizing the potential of RFID in mobile devices the company has unveiled single chip RFID reader foe cell phones which would make it easier to get information from RFID embedded movie posters, mirrors, advertising hoardings etc. It seems Samsung is looking at card type readers which can be plugged into mobile devices.

Its small size - 6.5mm x 6.5mm and extremely low power consumption at 850mW makes it perfect for mobile applications. The chip has been designed for 900MHz UHF range and integrates analog font end, base band modem, processor and memory chip. Mobile RFID readers are making their presence felt since the time Nokia came up with their Mobile RFID kit and now it looks that RFID technology would surely trickle down to the masses.
