I am a beg/int windows developer and have to what is to most of you a simple question but one I have not found an answer too. I have noticed that since Vista shipped, applications that Microsoft releases really don’t have the old XP "Style" to them anymore. They don’t look like Vista completely either and I know why.
For example WMP11, Live Messenger, and most of the rest of the Live suite have a hybrid of a look of something that isn’t XP and not quite Aero Basic (non Glass).
I have the RTM of VS2008 Pro and want to make similar applications for XP. Can this be done? I have tried with Windows Form Application but it looks like the Luna theme in XP and Aero in Vista. I have watched these (the ones I want to mimic) applications startup and to me, at least with WMP11, that it runs inside the client window area and for a brief moment it has the XP menu and title bar above it until they disappear.
Any ideas would be great, but I am almost sure this is something that is proprietary to Microsoft and or someone at MS has built a Aero’esc custom interface. But hoping it is possibly a setting in the new VS2008 that will do this. Thanks for any help.
