Once the flagship manufacturing facility for the American Can Company, Canco lofts is both a landmark condominium and cornerstone of a remarkable makeover within Jersey City’s industrial district. Corigin has embarked on the planning and development of an entire community—CANCOsquare. Plans for this urban-scale project will ultimately encompass over 2,100,000 square feet. Phase 1, encompassing 202 residential units and 240,000 square feet was completed in 2010. When the master plan is complete, more than 1,300 residential units, extensive retail and parking facilities will be accompanied by a new park that has been woven throughout this 10-acre site (click here to watch how it was built). The initial conversion consists of 1–3-bedroom lofts and duplex penthouses, uniting the existing powerful industrial heritage with modern loft living. Contemporary interiors designed by the NYC office of SBLM effectively contrast the monumental structure of the original building. The vast interior amenities total more than 16,000 square feet. Coupled with 12,000 square feet of common garden areas and a stunning lobby designed by world-class architects Lot-ek, these features make Canco Lofts an exceptional lifestyle statement.
